Quadra Island Ecological Observatory

At the Quadra Island Ecological Observatory (Quadra), we focus on delivering high-quality, large-scale science. Our mission is to perform a select number of impactful projects with precision and excellence.

Our Quadra location is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the merging of three ocean influences.
The Quadra Costal Observatory consists of more than 20 hectares and over 1km of shoreline. It includes a complex nearshore with rich & diverse habitats.

Science & Technology Facilities

While primarily supporting our in-house science programs, we also have the capacity to collaborate with partners, enhancing their research endeavors.

We are committed to expanding the skills base and fostering a dynamic ecosystem of project partners through specialized training opportunities.

Our research spans several cross-cutting themes, including the following:

  • Monitoring biodiversity across different regions and time frames

  • Investigating climate-related ocean conditions and their effects on marine life
